The packaging of Japanese tea "Hinokushin" won the 2021 TOPAWARDS ASIA Design Award.
The design highlights that it is made from Japanese tea leaves, featuring a gradient of hollow water droplets to showcase the transition of the tea fields from green to red. The character "丿" in "Hinokushin" represents the shape of the island of origin, creating a complete design concept that earned "Hinokushin" the TOP Packaging Design Award this year.

"Hinokushin" is made from SUNROUGE tea leaves produced in Tokunoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture.
Under the strong sunlight of the southern islands, the tea leaves develop red new buds, resembling lipsticks, hence the name "SUNROUGE."
This is the first red green tea cultivated in Japan over 12 years, using the color "Akane," which represents red in Japanese colors, leading to the product's name "Hinokushin."

SUNROUGE Healthy Tea with No Pesticides
In addition to catechins and polyphenols typically found in green tea, it also contains the rare anthocyanins, which can inhibit post-meal blood sugar spikes by obstructing the activity of sugar-decomposing enzymes. It also lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and alleviates eye fatigue, earning it the designation of a functional food.

Color-Changing Green Tea
"Hinokushin" changes color based on the type of water, temperature, and steeping time. Due to the high content of anthocyanins, it will turn red when acidic additives are introduced. When consuming, adding lemon, grapefruit, or apple cider vinegar—fruits that contain acid—will turn the originally green tea into a beautiful red!

*The color of the tea varies depending on the type of water used, temperature, and steeping time.
*Over time, the color may gradually change.
*Using hard water may produce sediment.

This is similar to mature red wine, where the polyphenols in SUNROUGE react with ions in the water, causing sediment that has no impact on the body.
